Course Description

The L1/L2 Instructor Certification Workshop (ICW) combines the Instructor Development Workshop and the Certification Exam into a single 5 day course.

The first 3 days of the course will focus on refining individual skills, session planning, managing groups, teaching concepts & assessment skills.  The last two days will be the instructor assessment where each candidate will have the opportunity to teach a variety of instructional sessions and be evaluated for certification.

Pre-requisites: Candidates interested in ACA Instructor Certification must possess current First Aid and CPR credentials and be ACA members. You may participate without them, but you will not receive your certification until the information is provided to the ACA.  There are no required skills to participate in the Level 1/2 ICW, but, it is expected that all candidates are able to paddle at an appropriate skill level commensurate with their desired level of training, prior to the course.  See the ACA website for Instructor Criteria at each level, www.americancanoe.org/page/instructor_criteria

Participation does not guarantee certification.
