It is the perfect time of year for a bike ride! The staff in Maine Sport's bike shop handpicked a few routes that would best suit the different types of cycling one might be interested in! They differ in length and difficulty, so there are options for all skill levels. These routes are available in Map Adventures' Camden Area and Rockland Area Hiking and Biking Trail Maps! Staff Pick Ride for E-Bikes:

Beauchamp Point Loop  | 8.4 miles | Begins and Ends in Rockport, Maine.The Beauchamp Point Loop is a wonderful 8.4 mile loop featured in Map Adventures' Camden Hill's Hiking and Biking Trail Map! You start at the flagship Maine Sport Outfitter's store in Rockport and head past local attractions such as Laite Memorial Beach, the Children's Chapel, and Aldermere Farm! 

Map Adventures' rates this trail as 'Easy'.

 

Staff Pick Ride for Road Bicycles:

Megunticook Lake Ride Loop | 21 miles | Begins and Ends in Rockport, Maine.The Megunticook Lake Loop is a 21.9 mile loop that takes you through Camden, Rockport, and up to Lincolnville Center! Starting at the flagship Maine Sport Outfitter's store in Rockport, bikers will circumnavigate Lake Megunticook with views of Mt. Megunticook. The Map Adventures' Camden Hill's Hiking and Biking Traill Map has detailed places for you to swim along the route!

Map Adventures rates this trail as 'Moderate'. 

 

Staff Pick Ride for Gravel Bicycles: 

Ski Shelter Trail Loop | 16 miles | Begins and Ends in Lincolnville, Maine. Camden Hills State Park is a wonderful slice of nature. With this trail, you can explore some of what the park has to offer on two wheels! The Map Adventures' says this about their original trail (the solid green line): "This is a classic, double track mountain bike route through wooded forest. On this hilly ride, you will pass the Shelter, ending at the renovated Ski Lodge. Retrace your route back to the parking area (Steven's Corner)." The original route clocks in at 5.8 miles. The staff at Maine Sport suggested an extended loop (the dashed green line) that takes you to Camden, past Lake Megunticook, and back to the Steven's Corner Parking Lot! As a notice to riders, the staff addition changes in terrain from gravel to asphalt. 

Mountain Adventures' portion of this trail is rated as 'Difficult'.

 

Staff Pick Ride for Mountain Biking:

Round the Mountain Trail | 13 miles | Begins and Ends in Hope, Maine.The Round The Mountain Trail is an multi-use trail featured in Map Adventures' Rockland Area Hiking and Biking Trail Map. Their original trail (solid red line) is 9 miles long that takes you along Ragged Mountain. The trail is root and rock free so expect smooth sailing! The staff at Maine Sport thought of an extended route that takes you around the neighboring area and back to the original parking lot at the Round the Mtn Trail and Thorndike Brook trail head! As a notice to riders, the staff addition changes in terrain from off-road to asphalt.

The Map Adventures' portion of this trail is rated as 'Moderate'.

 

Maine Sport Outfitter's urges those biking, either these trails or anywhere else, to wear a helmet and bright colors! Make sure your bike is in riding condition and use lights and hand signals when sharing the road with others. Please stay safe on the road and be careful of traffic!
