Shipping Policy

Thank you for visiting and shopping at MSO. Following are the terms and conditions that constitute our Shipping Policy.

Shipment processing time: 
All orders are processed within 2-3 business days. Orders are not shipped or delivered on weekends or holidays. If we are experiencing a high volume of orders, shipments may be delayed by a few days. Please allow additional days in transit for delivery. If there will be a significant delay in shipment of your order, we will contact you via email or telephone.

Shipping rates & delivery estimates:
Shipping charges for your order will be calculated and displayed at checkout.

Shipment method estimated delivery time and shipment cost*:

UPS Standard 3-5 business days - FREE for orders over $200

UPS Standard 3-5 business days - $5.99 flat fee for orders over $100

UPS Standard 3-5 business days - $7.99 flat fee for orders under $100

Exception: Ski and Snowboard Shipping - 3 - 5 days - $49.99 flat fee with returns subject to a $75 return shipping fee

* Delivery delays can occasionally occur, especially around the holidays.


In-Store Pickup Policy

At this time, Maine Sport Outfitters offers In Store Pickup at our Rockport location only. An order confirmation email will be sent to you immediately after your payment is accepted. This does not guarantee your purchase. We will check our available stock and if the item is still available, a Ready to Pickup email will be sent to you. If the item is out of stock, we will cancel and/or refund your payment. Orders will be ready to pickup or refunded within 1 business day. Refunds may take 7-10 business days to reflect. 

Orders can be picked up on the following dates and times:

Monday - Thursday 10am - 6pm
Friday - Saturday 9am - 6pm
Sunday 10am - 5pm

At this time, orders are only available for pickup at our Rockport location:

In-Store Return Policy

Customers may return unused merchandise within 60 days of purchase. Original receipt and packaging required. Clearance item sales are final. Please note that we only offer refunds for returns that meet the stated terms.


Online Return Policy

We stand behind everything we sell. If you're not satisfied with your MSO purchase, you can return it for a replacement or refund within 60 days of purchase — with a few exceptions.

MSO purchases of new items can be returned at any of our retail stores with proof of purchase, regardless of whether you bought the item online, in a store, or by phone.

Return to a store: Bring your item with its original product packaging and tags, as well as proof of purchase, to any of our MSO Locations for a free and easy return or exchange.

Return by mail: If you need to return items purchased from our online shop, you can begin the mail-in return process by filling out our return request form.

Please note: A return by mail shipping fee of $7.99 will be deducted from your refund amount. If you received a damaged or incorrect item, the return by mail shipping fee will be waived. Ski and snowboards are subject to a non-negotiable $75 return shipping fee. Gift cards and tickets are nonrefundable.

Refund times: Once the item is received in our warehouse, please allow 3 - 10 business days for the refund to post.

Get your return shipping label: With an MSO return shipping label, you can drop your return off at any Postal Service™ facility or mail it directly from your home. 


    Outdoor Programs Cancellation Policies

    Weather or Low Enrollment: Maine Sport does not usually cancel events due to inclement weather. However, we reserve the right to cancel an event at any time due to severe weather, low enrollment or other concerns. If Maine Sport cancels your event, you will receive a full refund for the cost of your reservation. All refunds will be in the form of the original transaction. Maine Sport is not be responsible or liable for other expenses incurred by the participant as a result of such a cancellation.

    Rentals: Cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance will receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance are non-refundable. There will be a boat cleaning fee added for substantially dirty boats. 

    Deliveries: Cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance will receive a full refund of delivery fee. Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance are non-refundable. Delivery driver will assist with moving boats to the water if needed. On pickup day boats are to be left where the delivery driver left them. Customers will be charged an extra fee if boats need to be manually transported by driver without assistance.

    Day Trips: Cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance will receive a full refund. Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance will not be refunded but can be credited toward a future and/or different tour. Will be subject to availability.

    Multi-day and Group Programming:

    Cancellations 14 days or more in advance will receive a full refund.
    Cancellations 7 to 13 days in advance will receive a 50% refund.
    Cancellations less than 7 days in advance are non-refundable.
    Refunds transferred will be less the price of applicable permitting fees.
    Exception: The Monhegan Migration Tour has a special policy. See trip info page for details.

      Rental & Delivery Policies

      Maine Sport rents a variety of outdoor equipment for various outdoor adventures operating out of our Rockport location (Bikes & Boats) and our Rockland location (Bikes). Below are some requirements and payment information, for more information and availability call: (207) 236-8797 or visit our Rockport location.

      Reservations: A 50% deposit is required to reserve your equipment. Payment may be made with American Express / Visa / Master Card / Discover. Balance must be paid in full before picking up the equipment.

      Security Deposit: A credit card is required for an equipment deposit. The renter will be charged for repairs or replacement of damaged or lost equipment and assessed a cleaning fee for returning dirty equipment.

      Rates & Late Fees: Equipment may be picked up and returned during store hours (although we would prefer no later than 1 hour prior to closing) any day of the week. No refunds will be made for equipment returned early or equipment rented but not used. However, we will issue refunds in the form of store credit for cancellations due to severe weather conditions. Equipment returned late will be charged the additional day rate for each day it is late. There is no on water transport provided. We provide blocks and straps for transportation, and can load on any vehicle that does NOT have convertible, 2 door, glass roof or panoramic sunroof. Delivery is an option at an additional cost.

      Weather Conditions: Safety is our number one priority and we will accommodate you to the best of our ability. Personal trips in the rain, wind, fog, and cold weather, as long as weather conditions are deemed safe to be in, will create a unique experience. Please make yourself aware of weather conditions that could potentially be too hazardous or unruly for you to paddle or cycle in effectively.*(heavy fog, lightning, high seas, or high winds)* Thereby being decisive about a condition in which compliments your skill level and comfortability before, you have received / left the premises with your rental. Those who have not attempted make themselves aware of this clause, will not receive a full refund, but can receive store credit. Ultimately, we can not pass judgment on your ability to perform any activities using our equipment.

      Cancellation & Deliveries: Cancellations 24 hours in advance, will receive a full refund. Cancellations on Deliveries 48 hours in advance, will receive a full refund. Cancellations on Deliveries under 48 will be refunded less the cost of the Delivery fee.


      Guided Trips & Tours Cancellation Policy

      All of our trips run rain or shine. Conditions that keep us off the water and out of the hills include: lightning, high winds, and extremely heavy fog. Safety is our number one priority and we reserve the right to cancel any trip due to unsafe weather conditions. If Maine Sport Outfitters cancels a trip, expedition, or instructional course due to unsafe weather conditions, you will receive a full refund or have the opportunity to transfer to the next available trip/course.

      Day Trips and Single Day Instructional Courses: If you cancel 48 hours in advance, you will receive a full refund. Cancellations made in under 48 hours notice will not be refunded but can be credited toward a future and/or different tour - subject to availability.

      Multi Day Trips and Courses: Cancellations 14 days or more in advance will receive a full refund. Cancellations 7 to 13 days in advance will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations less than 7 days in advance will not be refunded. Refunds transferred will be less the price of applicable permitting fees.


      Instructional Course Cancellation Policy

      Weather Conditions: We reserve the right to cancel any trip due to unsafe weather conditions. If Maine Sport Outfitters cancels a trip, expedition, or instructional course due to unsafe weather conditions (heavy fog, lightning, high seas, or high winds) you will receive a full refund or have the opportunity to transfer to the next available trip. Maine Sport conducts trips in the rain, wind, fog, and cold weather as long as weather conditions are deemed safe to be in. Safe yet undesirable weather will not result in exceptions to the cancellation policy noted below.

      Day Trips and Single Day Instructional Courses: Cancellations made 24 hours before the trip is scheduled to depart will receive a full refund. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice you will not receive a refund.

      Multi Day Trips and Courses: Cancellations made 21 days or more before the start of your course will receive a full refund less a $25 administration fee. Cancellations made with less than 21 days notice will receive a 50% refund of the total trip/course cost. Cancellations made less than 48-hours notice will not receive any refund.


      In-Store Gift Cards

      In-store gift cards sold online work in-store only at any of our locations. They do not work for online purchases. This is made clear in the product name and description. We cannot sell online gift cards due to technical limitations. We thank you for understanding.
