Maine Guide Training

Looking to become a Registered Maine Guide? Kick off the new year with a moniker! Whether you're looking to become a hunting, fishing or recreational guide our Maine Guide prep course can get you there...we'll be with you every step of the way until the patch is in your hands!

Course Description:

This three day, 18-hour course taught by the principal guides from Maine Upland Guide Service will give you the confidence to answer anything the administrators might throw your way. The class is fun, comfortable and informative and the instructors use powerpoint, videos, and hands-on practicals to keep things fresh. Dave and Mike will answer any questions you might have during the class or after to ensure that you're ready to take your guides test.

The state will test you in three parts: written, map and compass, and oral interview. Additionally you will be presented with an emergency or "catastrophic" scenario. You will be expected to identify two points on the map and take a bearing in addition to a 100-question written test per authority. By the time that you leave our class, you will feel confident that you can pass your guides test. We have a 91% pass rate among our students!

The first aid requirement is offered as well taught by paramedic Sean Estabrook from the Augusta Fire Department. The first aid add-on is $50.00 additional and meets the state's first aid requirement for your license! This is usually added on to the end of day one.
