FAQS

What kind of boats will we be paddling?

We use sea tandems and have a few singles as well.

How old does my child need to be to accompany us?

Children over the age of 10 are welcome on the Harbor to Harbor tour.

How long will we be on the water?

Harbor to Harbor Tours last four hours and assume we’ll be actively paddling for three  and a half to four hours.

Will we see any wildlife?

We frequently see eagles, osprey, loons, sea ducks, harbor seals, porpoises and the occasional gray seal.

What should I wear?

Wear clothes and footwear you are comfortable getting wet.  You should also bring a warm top NO MATTER the forecast.

What about inclement weather?

We will still paddle in the rain but high winds or forecasted thunderstorms may require us to cancel a trip.  If we have to cancel for weather, customers will receive a full refund.

I’m an entry level paddler who has paddled a few times, is this
trip appropriate for me?

Participants on the harbor to harbor tour ought to have had some paddling experience before and be in reasonably good physical condition. We’ll likely be paddling for three hours with a significant break for lunch on an island.  It's very doable but at the end of the day you’ll know you exerted yourself.

Do we land on an island?

Yes, we land on Curtis Island and have lunch up at the lighthouse.

Is lunch included?

Yes lunch is catered by a local market,  you’ll have a choice of a few sandwich options when you book.

Can I take a camera or cell phone on the trip / what
should I take on the trip?

A dry bag for camera and cell phones is a god idea and sunscreen, and water bottle is recommended.

Chris and Hazel were our guides and we had a fantastic time. Chris was the best guide I have ever learned from -- incredibly well informed, flexible, pleasant. I loved our far ranging conversation while we paddled. He is a gem. Hazel was great, too. And... despite having kayaked since a kid (and being a senior now) it was the first time anyone had told me to PUSH with the opposing hand rather than pull the paddle through the water -- what a difference to the exertion level! Many thanks!

We took a small group of teens to do a harbor to harbor kayak tour. We had guide Addie while out for the day, and we were so grateful for such an incredible experience. Addie was professional, cautious of our safety, and so informative while out on the water. I was extremely impressed by her knowledge of the native wildlife and history in the area. ... I cannot say enough positive things about Addie and our experience. It was beautiful from beginning to end, and I would love to go back.
