HYDROS II REEL

The new Hydros fly-fishing reel represents a focused effort to make something great even better. Orvis took their best-selling reel and removed excess material to reduce weight while reinforcing the narrow spool, which helps minimize line stacking. The drag knob was redesigned for greater ergonomic comfort and ease of use. The sealed drag system was further improved to better protect the clutch bearing. As with the Mirage, the reel foot is radiused to prevent leader kinks. The sealed drag—featuring stacked carbon and stainless steel disc washers—remains among the strongest in the industry, delivering zero start-up inertia.

With a matte type II anodized finish and a standard large arbor that balances well with lighter-weight fly rods, the Hydros still delivers excellent retrieval rates and reduced line coiling compared to standard arbor reels. True to form, this reel reflects Orvis’s ongoing commitment to refinement and performance.

Available in matte black with silver accents or matte silver with charcoal accents.
