Steelhead Fly Fishing Trip

Erie, Pennsylvania | March 16-20 2024

Trip Description:

Come chase Great Lakes Steelhead in the tributaries of Lake Erie with Maine Sport Outfitters and Erie local and Steelhead veteran Patrick Gallagher.  A few of us just returned from a memorable trip to Erie and we are gunning to go back.  So before the season kicks off here and before the best Steelhead runs end there, we would like to invite you to a Cabin Fever Reliever with MSO friends and family.  Patrick Gallagher, who grew up in the Erie area and has been catching these steelhead for decades, will join us to host
and  facilitate the trip.

Pursuing Steelhead is challenging but ultimately one of the eastern US’s great bucket list fish.   With the flexibility to partner with some trusted local guides or simply using the information we give to fish on your own, each angler can craft an unforgettable experience on the renowned steelhead waters.

What to Know:

Anglers are responsible for their own clothing, waders, gear and terminal tackle and Maine Sport is here before and during the trip to make recommendations. While on the trip Maine Sport will arrange trip logistics including accommodations, ground transportation, stream side lunches, and local guide bookings if desired. If you have never fished for these steelhead, we recommend booking or sharing a local guide for at least day one to show you the ins and outs on the water.  For anglers wishing to do it themselves we will be there to provide transportation to the streams and as many pointers as we can to help you be successful. There are several tributaries in the Erie area and miles of access to explore over three days of fishing.

Trip Logistics:

Anglers can choose to ride with Maine Sport in their passenger van (approximately twelve hours) or should plan on flying into the Buffalo airport on Saturday March 16 to be picked up at 4PM.  From the airport we’ll drive together to Erie, PA and stay at Sheraton Bayfront Hotel.  We’ll stay four nights and fish three full days.  Maine Sport will provide lunch on the river;  breakfast is offered at the hotel.  Dinner costs are not included though the fish tales will be free. There are many dinner options near the hotel.
